Remember the net Magazine?
When the first issue of the net was published, the web was in its early days, so the magazine offers a unique glimpse into a web that existed for only a brief moment in time. By the time the last of its 28 issues were published, the web was growing larger by the minute, online search was improving, and perhaps most importantly, the company DoubleClick was making online advertising feasible. With the ability to advertise to web users where they lived, advertisers largely abandoned print magazines like the net.
The tone of the net was informal, reflecting the "Web For The People" ideal that many internet pioneers believed in and cultivated. That ideal inevitably fell by the wayside as the web became a commercial entity.
